Actually Finishing Something In July: Week One

Basically what this is, is a series of posts designed to keep you motivated in your July goals. If you want to join or learn more, go to where this is hosted at Whisperings of the Pen.

Week One Questions:

1) What is your writing goal?

My writing goal is to accomplish 25,000 words. I'm really, really, really hoping that it will bring me to the end of my novel, but I might raise or lower it depending on  what I still need to finish.

2) Give us a short synopsis of your project.

Villages are getting raided in the kingdom of Calarel.
People are losing their homes and loved ones. All Alynn wants is her family to stay as it is, safe and content, without the threat of the raider’s attack hanging over her head. Everything is going perfectly fine until one day her worst nightmares come true.
Raiders attack Alynn’s village, leaving nothing but a few stray animals. In the midst of confusion, Alynn loses her parents and is left alone with her sister Enna in the ominous forest of Calarel. Their food supply is growing scarce, and the fight for survival leaves them scared and distressed.
Join Alynn and her sister Enna in a story of adventure, courage, love, and suspense; and how they must rely on one thing through God:
Faith.

3) How long have you been working on this project?

Since January 18th, 2014. So I'm starting on my seventh month.

4)  How often do you intend to write in order to reach your goal by August 1st?

Every. Single. Day. So far I've been keeping up on that well, it just depends on how much I write each day.
5) Introduce us to three of your favorite characters in this project.

Enna: She has a bubbly personality and an optimistic spirit. Enna doesn't like thinking things through, she prefers to just go at it head on. I really love writing her; she adds a lot of light to the dreary situations.
Willow: To put it plainly, Willow is the exact opposite of Enna. She has a sly and sarcastic sense of humor, and is very edgy and moody to most people she comes across. Willow can be very annoying, I get irritated by her often.
Beti: I just added her a couple days ago and am already loving her character. She is seven years old and an absolute darling. Beti has such a sweet heart, but doesn't have much of a family that looks after her. I find my heart melting as I'm writing her.

I do have guys in my book in case you were wondering, but I like the girls better so far :)
(It's a lot harder describing your characters than you think. Excuse my lame sense of introducing them)

6)  Go to page 16 (or 6, 26, or 66) of your writing project. Share your favorite line or snippet on the page.

(Duston is an old doctor)

“No, no. You can’t speed up the body’s work. If you walk on it any earlier, you could hurt it permanently,” Duston waggled a finger in Enna’s face. He arched his back, several popping noises sounding because of this, “I have to take a rest. Too much strain on my bones,” He limped out of the room, favoring his right foot.
"His body isn’t doing that well for a doctor.” Willow crossed her arms, leaning against the wall after he had exited the room. Enna snorted, small hiccups of laughter bursting out of her. Even Alynn cracked a small smile.

7) Tea or coffee?

Please, neither. Give me some juice or pop and I'll be plenty satisfied.

That's it for this week :) I'll be posting an update on our Camp NaNoWriMo progress later today.
