Resistance Review

Hello! Katie here today :)

*Disclaimer* I received a free copy of this
book in exchange for an honest review.

I'm sharing a review today of Resistance, by Jaye L. Knight. It is seriously the best book ever. I read it twice in a matter of three days. It's that good. (I'm a fast reader.. But I wouldn't have reread it if I hadn't enjoyed it :) Anyway, here's my review.

Faith.

Fantasy.

Friendship.

All three ingredients mixed into one thrilling adventure.

---

Kyrin Altair has the ability to remember everything since the age of four. She and her twin brother Kaden were taken from their home and put in a special school when found out about their unique talents. But when Kyrin is pressed into the service of the emperor, it is nearly impossible to hide her beliefs in Elôm, the one true God.

Jace is a half-ryrik; a race that is looked upon in disgust and is known for blood-lust and murder. After the last peace of his life falls away, depression sinks in, leaving him to question the love of Elôm. He is treated by many as an outsider and a monster.

Have you ever been so excited about the release of a book… That you’ve talked about it every single day until you finally got to read it?

Have you ever been so excited about the release of a book... That you consistently check for updates on its progress?

Have you ever been so excited about the release of a book… That you reread the author’s previous series three times while waiting for her newest series? (I’m a fast reader :)

Well guess what? I have. What book is it?

 Resistance.

I had the book on my Kindle, and as I was sitting there on the couch, holding it in my hands, the doubts came…

What if it didn’t meet my expectations?

Pfft. I was hooked by the first word. I had no reason to worry about it meeting “expectations.” It met them, and was unbelievably awesome.

Tension was built throughout the book. I turned page after page, not being able to stop reading. There was conflict, both internal and external that progress through the story.

The two character’s plots, Kyrin and Jace’s, were both equally exciting and intriguing to read. The separate stories slowly collide, and I loved witnessing their attempts to interact despite their differences.

With all of the characters, I could find similarities that I could relate too. They had flaws, just like every other human being on earth. Jaye developed them well, and I can’t wait to meet them again in the rest of the series.

Being a Christian, I really appreciate the faith aspect of Resistance. The Emperor is forcing people to worship two false gods. It makes me think of what I would do in those circumstances of being discovered and most likely killed. Each character must decide how they’ll react.

To say I liked it is an understatement. This is definitely my favorite book. I hope you’ll enjoy it as much as I did!
