Makilien vs Pirates

Hey everyone, Anna here again.  This is a report I did about two great books I enjoyed.  Both Katie and I thought it would be a good idea to post it.

Makilien vs. Pirates

In Proverbs 18:24 it says “A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother”.  I feel like this verse best describes two book series called Pirates of Faith and the Makilien Trilogy.  They’re both written by Molly Evangeline, and have some similarities as well as their own distinct features.  Like how similar the main characters are, or how different the time periods are like, and how they share the same faith in the stories.

Both Makilien & Pirates of Faith have great characters that pull you in and make you feel like you’re on the journey with them.  In book one of Makilien’s journey she makes many new friends that show her the way to find her faith and her trust in the one true God.  Throughout the pirate series, friends show compassion and love for each other.  In both books their friends always have each other’s back when they’re in a rough situation.

Though both books are fantasy, their time periods are very different.  Makilien’s world is more mythical then historical, and she grows up in a more medieval time period.  Pirates of Faith are more historical based with the slave trade and American colonies.  Since their time periods are different, they have different transportation.  Though both use horses they also use different creatures and man-made ships.  Makilien’s world uses dragons as transportation sometimes, while in Pirates they use ships and carriages.

Faith is a big part of the books.  On Makilien’s journey, she finds the truth of the one true Creator. But in Pirates, most of the people are God loving, except for a few of the characters.  I enjoy the aspect of God in the books; it gives the author a whole new window for writing.

In the end, both book series are amazing. I truly recommend reading them.  I love the books and everyone I know who has read them loves them too.  These books have given me inspiration for both drawing and writing my own stories.  They are definitely books you can read over and over again and never get tired of the adventures.

    1. I love both so much. But, being a lover of fantasy and medieval times makes me like Makilien better. Have you read her newest book, Resistance? It has two main characters; you are bound to feel connected to one of them :)
